Why are Theta-Orthotics the Best? Because orthotics work by using a wedge to correct for an angular deformity in your foot and leg, the more of the angular deformity that can be corrected, the better the orthotic will work. Theta is the angle in degrees of the wedge inherent in any orthotic design. Our research identified 20 degrees of angular deformity in the foot and 20 degrees of angular deformity in the leg. This makes a total of 40 degrees of angular deformity that must be corrected to permit optimal alignment and function as we walk and stand. A good supported shoe has about 5 degrees of theta or wedge built into the design. Many over-the-counter arch supports have 10 degrees of wedging or theta. Most custom orthotics have between 15 and 20 degrees of angular correction or theta. All of these devices leave at least 20 degrees of angular deformity of the foot and leg uncorrected. This results in less than optimal control with unresolved symptoms and deformity. Theta-Orthotics come in 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 degrees of angular correction or wedging. Every time you stop 5 more degrees of abnormal foot and leg motion, you significantly decrease symptoms and deformity. Theta-Orthotics are better than any other foot control device on the market because they correct far more of the angular deformity present in the human foot and leg. Although Theta is the most important factor in determining the effectiveness of an orthotic device, other factors also contribute to the help derived from any device intended to control foot function. These include the ability of the device to fit in all of the shoes you wear, your compliance with using the device during all weight-bearing activities, the fit of the device to your specific foot, the durability of the device, and the ability of the device to stay put where it can function best. Theta-Orthotics are custom fitted to each foot and are constructed of a urethane rubber material that provides both shock absorption, stability, durability as well as the ability to work in more shoe types than any other foot-control device. All of these factors make Theta-Orthotics better than any other orthotic/support device in the world.
