Heel Pain Causes

Foot pain is not uncommon today, and in some cases it can be the sign of something serious. However, there are times when the cause of foot pain and heel pain causes are things you can address on your own by making some adjustments to your footwear and perhaps even to your everyday activity.Obviously very severe and chronic pain should be brought to the attention of a doctor, and you should never assume that common heel pain causes are at the root of your issue if your pain is that severe. When it comes to problems with the feet, if they're not addressed and corrected in a timely manner they typically become worse; rarely do they just heal up and go away on their own. So, when considering the following common heel pain causes that you can address on your own, make sure that you are still in touch with your physician for problems that are chronic.

Obesity and Physical Issues

No one likes to hear that they're overweight and no one is saying that if someone is overweight then they somehow "deserve" physical problems. However, those few extra pounds are common heel pain causes as the feet and the heels need to carry that body weight with every step. The body is just not meant to support those extra pounds and in the case of obesity, the problems can be numerous. Imagine how another area of your body would be in pain if you were to rest a large boulder on it, and you understand how those extra pounds are very common heel pain causes!Improper posture can also be common heel pain causes, as can be injuries to other areas of the body. When the back of the foot is called upon to carry weight that it's not meant to support, you will feel pain. As an example of how this might work, when the back has been injured or when it is out of alignment, these are common heel pain causes because the feet are now supporting the body in a way that is unnatural.Losing weight, even a few pounds, can help with these common heel pain causes. Minding your posture which can be improved through exercise routines and things like yoga or Pilates, can also help. If you have a bad back then a good back brace or posture brace can alleviate the pressure on the feet and eliminate some of these heel pain causes.

Other Reasons

There are other common heel pain causes such as poorly fitting shoes or ones that are made of stiff materials that pinch the feet. In cases such as these, if you cannot find other shoes, it's good to consider inserts and other simple fixes. You can also take shoes to a repairperson that can widen them or add rubber soles to absorb impact. If you find that these simple fixes for common heel pain causes do not work in your case, it's time to see a doctor!
